I want to divide and repot some outdoor pond plants. What sort of soil should I use?
In the past, i have used regular top soil, that is wet, mix some sand with it and always put some form of gravel layer on top. Not sure if its right but seems to work
Hi Tom,
I use peat moss and gravel in a plastic pot in which I have drilled a lot of extra holes or the pond planting basket type pots.
I scrounge or buy some cheap nylons or windows screen to wrap up or put into the moss, root Ball and some gravel.
I can use old cotton clothing it will rot away over time.
Pant legs from old jeans make good natural pots too.
The trick is to put enough rock in it to keep it down, or if you have fish that like to root around things an 8" X 8" concrete block makes a good planter.
Good luck
