    Default share a pond

i want to share a pond with my uncle which will allow me to give goldfish to pond which is way bigger than my fish tank. but my main worry is theres no protection there and his pond is at risk from cats and seagulls lol he said your fish be fine in my pond but i dont wana lose goldfish to predators.
and that as they say is that.

    Hey Gary,

First of all, how deep is the pond? If its anything shallower than 3 feet you may have some complications. Anything less the 4 feet will have a hard time winterizing your fish due to the fact that it gets too cold, if your pond was deep enough the fish would hang out at the bottom beneath the ice which would be much warmer. In terms of predators, I would put a scarecrow or something intimidating. Raccoons will test the water first if the walls of your pond are steep it will back off.( they need to be able to touch the bottom briefly at least to go in) Hope this helps!!!

If you are ever interested in high quality fish for your pond, give us a pm or a call, we would be more than happy to help you with any questions you may have.

its over 4 foot deep and has a shallow part too where they come up for feeding. i found some old net stuff to go over pond it seems ok and safe and i have put 2 goldfish in to try it. hope it be ok but i think aquarium is way more safer for fish.

    Hey Gary,

I think your pond should be safe for fish to stay in, if you want to be extra safe I would make some hiding spots so that predators cant get to them if they hide. An aquarium can never provide us with the tranquility that an outdoor environment completes. Anyways hope my two cents helped you.

Aquariums are safer, but ponds are way healthier. You will be amazed at how much the fish grow over the summer.

i finally gave in lol and gave my 4 goldfish to pond, funny enough im rather proud and not really missing them as they seem happy in that pond. it was a good feeling releasing them and watching them for half and hour enjoying the dept and length of pond.
and that as they say is that.
