I have a 2000 gallon pond with a Luguna 25 watt UV on it and the water is crystal clear.
The UV will not affect your fish even if it is too big for the size of pond you have.
The only things affected by it are in the water that is pumped through it.

the bigger the uv light the better it is. only the bigger ones kill bacteria the small ones just keep the water clear. if i remember correctly 32 watts is the lowest watt that kills bacteria like ick.

from what ive understood, uv will kill anything no matter what if your flow is proportionate to your wattage

The flow is crucial to the unit. if you have too much flow the light can't do it's job properly. when i looked into these before i got my 9 watt, the 24 watt did not kill all. i am sure i read the 32 watt is the lowest watt to kill bacteria. but i can not find that info now. ether way your uv should be great as long as you have the right flow. hope that helps Cheers
