I'm not a mod, but you can do this by going to the User CP link, choosing "edit options" under options and settings" and then under "default subscription mode" you can then choose to be notified daily, instantly or not at all (default mode).
Edit: Got Ninja'd! Oops, actually, each of us answered one part of her questions.
