I think the fist FF may have been humorous to some .
But I think it has gotten out of hand.
I hope some way if found to prevent future post that are not really free.

totally agreed this is a crappy way to advertise something that is actually for sale. It's a total waste of time for people to have to look at these ad's just to find out that you have to buy $2500 worth of equipment or a tank or whatever. The least one could do is clarify it in the title. In my opinion just putting FF in the title when there is actually something for sale in that ad is totally misleading people. This isn't about marketing, I even seen it said car dealers do it all the time, well this isn't a car dealership last time I checked ! The "free 230g tank" that started this in the first place was ridiculous. That set-up has a total of 4 threads for the same set-up , with-in the last 9 months, 2 are currently open threads while the others have been closed. I sure hope we don't have to see any more of these ads in the future as well. if there's something for sale in the ad it should atleast say FF/FS & clarify in the title if you have to buy something to get whatever for free. Granted it was kind of funny at first, but today I have seen more ads in the same fashion...not so funny anymore. Just my 2 cents

sigh trolls up in bca LOL
That's why I made a thread in the lounge regarding free stuff.
I didn't want to file a complaint so I just posted it up in the Aqua lounge.
It was funny in the beginning, but got old really quick.
I could understand if we got points based on how many views we get in a thread we create, but that's not the case.
In reality it's only funny once.
These types of threads tend to have a lot of "off topic" banter that basically ends up being more work for our Mods to deal with.
& what Mod wants to deal with that during the "playoffs".![]()
I dont like getting into the middle of these things or usually take sides, but after watching this ad get "blown up" into something it didnt need too it puzzles me why people have responded how they did.The individual posted in the right section, listed a price, the products at hand, and even offered more to anyone interested. There was no misinterpreting or anything to hide and everything mentioned is "up front" and open to the viewer. Why do people have to go and make "nothing" into something , where the situation doesnt warrant it? If anyone had a question or two regarding the post or products offered, "PM" the seller(there's a reason why its there USE IT) and dont make a show of it for everyone else to see.Let the person sell their items without being hassled by petty remarks. You(member of the site) make the choice to see or ignore this post.Iam sure all the moderators and or persons running this forum have seen this post, and if there were any issues, this would have been accounted for.Let the seller use the tools offered by this site for what they were intended to do.

Thanks for writing this Luke.
As far as I can tell, the biggest complaint from people is that they were 'mislead' to click on the thread and actually had to read it. Boo Hoo.
Either that or they felt disappointment because they couldn't get a 230 gallon tank for free
If you think the price is unreasonable, go check out the prices for all of the equipment yourself.
If you think it's too expensive, don't buy it
If your finger hurts because you had to click on the thread to see that the brand new 230 gallon tank was free if you paid for $2,300 of equipment, boo hoo, find someone to kiss your wee little finger better![]()
Each to their own but I think it definitely goes against the spirit in which the FF adds are intended. Especially if everybody starts using it. After all, we're not a bunch of businesses that need to out market the competition. Kinda funny in the 1st add but I wouldn't want to see it become the norm.
Cheers!!
For the regular BCA'ers, we've all seen this (the non FF version) ad around for some time now. So to think this brand new tank has become free all of a sudden is a ridiculous notion and an extra click isn't hurting anyone. I think people have gotta take a breath and relax.

I agree with this fully. A For Free ad should be just that.. FREE
I have added a rule to the classified section
10)FF defined at FOR FREE, must be for free. You cannot list a (item A) for free if you buy (item b). The whole thread must be FF(for free)
Please report any threads you feel violates this rules and they will be removed

Posted new site classified rule in the fw equipment section, but it applies to all ads.
If your NOT FF ad has been closed, please feel free to repost with the correct title.
I will be doing a quick search and destroy (ie. close) recon for these misleading ads and the OP is RESPONSIBLE for reposting their ad with an appropriately TRUE heading.
