In the sponsors section it would be cool to have an area for non sponsors to post requests. Then the sponsors can post replies if they are able to get the fish in. This is a good idea because:

    1. less clutter in each sponsor's own thread
    2. promotes interaction between sponsors and forum users, who are clients.
    3. forum users do not have to post a looking for in EACH sponsors thread only to have it never looked at.
    4. The other looking for section is to be used for general look outs, and I doubt sponsors read it actively enough.
    5. this would also help sponsors get an idea of the requests people look for

Sounds good other than sponsors competing with each other undercutting each other.
    We aren't
    Meant
To post in the other section saying we have it.
I say we have a store section and a basement seller section . Then people know who they are dealing with. Stores have alot of expenses and
Basement sellers charge close to the
    Same prices and
Don't pay taxes, city license etc etc.

I think the situation I was trying to mitigate was this.

I want this fish called ______ , and I do not want to have to call/pm/post for every sponsor to see if it is available. I want to post in a place where the sponsors will look and then can post that it is available. I realize that will result in some competition, but it is not price shopping necessarily, I meant it as species shopping.

Just wanted to make it more efficient for sponsors to get in the fish that their clients want.

That is what an "LF" ad is for, it's up to the sponsors if they choose to look for those ads and see what people are looking for.

just to add to this, i find sponsors on this site are willing to redirect you to other sponsors to get species they don't normally carry. I've had this happen twice when requesting livestock that's not run of the mill. Kind of nice not having to deal with sponsors giving you the run around to keep business from other sponsors

IMO requests to the individual forums works well as most hobbyists have a favorite LFS or a close one. Would not want to see a sponsor import a specialty fish for someone who ends up too far away to get them for example. The idea is good, might turn into a bit of confusion as to which store said what.

Good point Grant, most of us do have our favorite shops to go to anyway.

As I acknowledged in my explanation the LF section is usually between hobbyists, I was proposing something for the Sponsors section.

Possibly, however when looking for rare fish, one has to go where they come in since many LFs will not take any chances on anything out of the ordinary or don't really care that much what one or two customers want in comparison to their clientele as a whole.
The end result would be I would end up posting a LF in every single sponsors forum, which is a pain. So I was trying to create an idea that streamlined the customer sponsor relationship, but I can see not many people get this.

The Classified section is meant for this purpose using LF as a prefix. If you post a LF ad in the livestock section a sponsor can freely let you know they have them available and for what price etc..

I can see why you would like another section for this, but i think the current system works fine the way it is without the addition of another section.

I do greatly appreciate your questions and suggestions.
