The pictures have to be stored somewhere in some server in the web in order for people to access it in a situation like this.

One way of removing third party picture requirements would be to enable us to save images in this server (bcaquaria), but that would cost a lot in terms of space requirements, the reason being that we have lots of people here that love to post pictures and videos. This can easily get into gigabytes of data and it also has the potential to slow down the server's access speed for normal forum activity.

Therefore IMHO, its best to stick to third party sites that specialize in hosting images and videos.

I hope my insight helped you out on this

    EDIT:
I've noticed craigslist using what you were looking for. When I submit a post, I am allowed to "upload" my image from my computer. This image is stored (it has size requirements) in craigslist until my post is deleted. Its not a good idea to do here because most of the posts that have pics are in the journals and photo gallery and are unlikely to be deleted.

    - You can click the "Go Advanced" button
    - In the lower section of the screen there is now a "Manage Attachments" button
    - A new window should pop-up, allowing you to browse your hard drive and upload the file that you want to share. (In this window it will show you the file size and picture size restrictions)

It will be displayed as a thumbnail, which our users can click on to view in full size or download. For example, my attachment is of my buddy's car we destroyed before it went to the scrap yard.

LoL, I mean in private messages, not when posting.

    Advanced options only gives you

    Miscellaneous Options
Request a read receipt for this message
Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.
    Show your signature
    Automatically parse links in text
    Disable smilies in text

So I figure I'll either ask for a email address and email a picture, or I will suck it up and make a photobucket account, and just link outta that for pictures in private messages.

I just use tinypic.com, as you don't need to register, and insert the image url into my private messages.

Sure - it's pretty easy to do. Let's say that I want to post a picture of a goldfish - here's what I do.

    - once you find the picture that you want to post just click the right side of your mouse and highlight the properties. Then " Copy " those properties.

    - now go back to this site and go to where you want to leave your message with this picture.

    - click on the " Insert Image " Icon at the top of the space where you type in your message. It's the yellow square which is 14th from the left. Once you have clicked it you will get a yellow highlighted message at the top of the page asking if you want to allow Scripted windows. Click on that and then click on the Temporarily Allow Scripted Windows bar. Go back and click on the " Insert Image " Icon. Right at the very top left corner a box will appear - go to the blank line and click right on your mouse and then click on " Paste ".
Now the properties for the picture that you want to post should appear in the blank line. Click OK and then your picture will be there.

It sounds complicated but once you do it a couple of times it's really easy.

i think his original question was asking how he could attach a picture on his computer, into a private message without using a third party website.
