Why so few emoticons?

To be honest, I prefer just a few emoticons to a whole list of 50+, but the one emoticon I find I really miss on this forum is an LOL smiley.
Maybe something like this?

Or there are other ones out there too. I just find I'm always typing something like , then remember there's no pic for that
And it seems like there's a perfect space for it, what with 11 smilies in a 3x4 configuration 0:-)
