I actually dont see gold nuggets around that often, Even when charles imports. Right now is a terrible season for wild plecos though. SA is all flooded

They are pretty hard to come by in Vancouver. The only place I have seen them since Rainforest closed was Pet Boutique in N Van.

I think the issue with them is that when they first come in wild, its really hard to get them to eat. Once they do, they settle in just fine.

Gold nuggets are not that difficult to get, but as Joseph said, it's tough to get them to eat, and the die off from small ones are very high, so people don't like to bring them in. They sound cheap, but if you have 3x$50 fish die on you, it's no longer cheap. Better to look for a bigger one that has been eating for a while in captivity and have a sure thing. This is fairly well documented on planetcatfish.
