Meeting date is June 14

Due to the Canucks Stanley Cup playoff hockey game, we've changed the date of our next meeting to Tuesday, June 14th, at our regular time of 7:30 p.m. instead of the day before when our meeting would normally be held. The meeting will be held in Room 2010 of the Douglas Kenny Building at UBC (not the Biodiversity Museum), so please see our website for details on how to get there.

Hi Jen,

Roadrunner sent me this question, and I thought you'd be better able to answer it than I am.

Any chance there will be meeting everything about plants? I would welcome some info on growing plants (how to grow all types of plants), substrate, dosing, co2, lighting, trimming etc….. I need some kind of guide on where to start and be successful. Something simple like this type of substrate, light will work best for these types of plants.

Hi Viera & Maureen,

I have been doing quite a lot of research myself into the best ways to grow aquatic plants and it is a good idea to present something about them- I know I am hoping to bring some aquatic plant experts in to speak to us but until then I will think of a way to get people started. I wonder if we could get 3 or 4 of our members to tell us each a bit about their planted tanks and what kind of set-up they favour (with some pictures), and perhaps I could act as a sort of real-life forum moderator- do you think that would be a fun meeting idea?
