Great idea to investigate, Morainy. I've used things like Webex to share speaker presentations at UBC. Details can sometimes be tricky depending on the content, as some speakers have copyright concerns with their stuff when it starts streaming out onto the Internet.

Certain types of workshops would fit well with this (perhaps design oriented topics) while others that really need/benefit from the physical presence of the workshop leader being able to get their hands on a participant's materials to assist may work better "live".

I see an opportunity for a potential Workshop Committee Chair developing here!

Just a quick note that some of us Wet Coast Aquarium Society people will be at Aquariums West on Saturday (April 30) from about 2:30 pm 'till 5 pm to sign up new members and answer any questions you may have about WCAS.

The Fluval 45G Bowfront tank/stand member's draw prize will be on display next to our membership table, so come on down to check out the tank, and join WCAS while your at it!

Too bad we missed you. Aquariums West is still selling memberships on our behalf, so if you find yourself down there again next week, you can sign up (and still be eligible to win the 45 gallon bowfront tank kit). Otherwise you can do it at the May 9th meeting. Hope to see you there! We're getting excited for Dr. Pauly's talk and meeting new members.

Do you have to attend the first meeting in order to qualify for the draw? Or just have a membership?

Hi Immus21,

For this very first draw we are entering all members who join before May 9th (if mailed, our secretary must receive it before the May 9 meeting, otherwise we suggest joining right before the meeting or at one of the sponsor stores listed on our website where we'll collect forms beforehand).

For future members-only prizes they will be door prizes so will be given out to people who attend the meetings.

We would like to get a big audience for Dr. Pauly's talk so we're hoping people will attend in person (playoffs not withstanding). We will be selling raffle tickets at the meeting for another great prize from our sponsor April's Aquarium, and you'll need to be there to buy the tickets if you're interested.
