Thumbs up 2nd Annual Discus Grow Out Contest Journal: Calvin (Immus21)

Picked up my growout contest fish yesterday from Rick's, I'm luckier than most since I only live about 5 mins from his place. I don't even think the Discus realized they had been moved since they were out of Rick's tank and into mine in about 15 mins. Thanks to Rick for putting on this awesome contest. I have to say though, I wasn't expecting such sizable fish but I guess I'll take them.

    Tanks: 30G cube
    Filter: Sponge
    Heater: 300W Hydor
    Light: Beamswork LED

    Temp: 88F
    pH: 6.6
    Substrate: None
    Plants: Silk

Here's a short video before their first water change:

Good luck with your fish. I'm wondering why you'd use a 300W heater for a 30G tank. I suppose it's OK but how come?

I was at Rick's this a.m. and saw the contest fish. While no pictures can totally capture their true beauty or quality, your pics are excellent and do them justice .
You have a nice set-up. I wonder if the LED lighting will have any effect on growth or health ?
Quick suggestion..I think I would bump up the Ph to 7.0-7.2
    GOOD LUCK IN THE CONTEST

It's the ony extra heater I had laying around other than a 50W and I didn't think the 50W would cut it.

Thanks. I will have to get a pic with the moonlight effect it really shows well. I don't want to mess with the water chemistry too much so I'll see how it goes with the current pH.

Just got home from work and decided to try and snap a few shots with just the "moon" light on.
