That's very interesting about the difference in colour that you and some of the others have noticed. In my tank they are all white. It makes me think that the golden ones are eating more of a food that has a colour enhancing agent such as your Omega One flakes which is bring up some colour earlier than we would otherwise see. Measurements should be total length including the tail. I'm loving that water change photo!

Rick I thought that too. Could also be the beef heart as well. Although my mix has omega one mixed it.

July update. Lost 1 more baby last week due to constipation. It was late when I seen him swimming funny and the next day he was floating at the top.
Still feeding a BH mixture, FD Blackworms with the odd flake thrown in for good measure.

Fish are growing good. 2 or 3 are really standing out right now.

I ended up with a spare 20g in trade a couple weeks ago, this morning I finally got around to cleaning and painting it. I swapped the fish over this afternoon during their daily water change. This tank doesnt have the tinted bottom like the 20 they were currently in.

Hopefully the dark coloration goes away. This is one of this fancy Marineland LED units. The lights are pretty dim compared to the CFL PowerGlo bulbs that were over the past on. The temperature of the light is much nicer to the eye as well.

The new set up looks good. Will be interesting to see if the non tinted bottom makes a difference in the peppering. I think it should.

I saw immediate results. All the fish lost dark color. Now we wait a few days to see if its stress and the dark comes back.

    August Update.

I have 7 fish left, seems I loose one of the small guys every so often. Probably the weakest fish in the tank. I am trying to find some other discus to put with them so I can upgrade the contest fish to a larger aquarium. This is proving more difficult than I anticipated.

A couple fish have started showing white pattern, I hope it comes in throughout the month and they look different for the September update.

I have also noticed a slow down in growth of the fish this month.

Yes they did lighten up, however I rarely get to see the fish when they arent stressed. So I usuallyseetgem with their stress bars. When I see them they are either fighting for food, right before or after a water change. However the 2 "middle" fish have lost all peppering.
