Picked up my six contest discus from Rick this afternoon. Was extremely nice to finally meet him after a few weeks of conversing on the forums and would like to thank him for putting on these great contests. Very pleased with the six fish that I came home with. They settled in comfortably to their new home and readily took to the FDBW which will continue to be a staple in their diet. I look forward to learning from others in the contest and watching their progression. Good Luck Everyone!

Thanks guys! These are actually all cell phone photos as well. Only been under a week but the fish have been loving the 100% daily water changes. Cant wait to see these guys start to color up.

Pretty amazing for cell photos, definitely looking forward to your updates. It won't be long until the blue striations start to show. Usually starting in the head and fins, then progressing into the body. Good luck in the contest!

The blue is starting to show on them now, and looks good.

I had a bit of a scare lastnight after their waterchange. A couple hid back in the corner of the tank and turned somewhat greyish. They did end up coming out and feeding from my hand afterwards but went back to the corner when they were done. I watched them for a while and they eventually colored back up and rejoined the rest of the group. Not sure what it was about as there are no ph swings during waterchanges, no microbubbles and tempurature was matched. Hoping it doesn't happen again tonight.

Another thing I noticed after work today was some redness around one of the discus mouth. Do they lip lock like other cichlids do? Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Any less stress in the fish during your most recent water change? Discus get "bloody noses" from time to time and it will usually go away on it's own in time.

No issues last night with waterchange. All ate after like pigs. I did notice this morning one was sitting by itself but came right up to the front to beg for morning feeding.

Bloody nose is interesting. It has gone away but I will keep an eye out.
