Little update/question. Tonight during water change I notice a couple white areas on one of the fish caudal fin. I have seen ich before and it doesn't look like it to me I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this before?

I have seen it quite often in the tail and sometimes pectoral fins. It is especially common after discus have been handled and will go away on its own.

I think it's called 'lymphocystis' or something like that, it is viral mediated, basically like a cold, self limiting, once infected, always there but not always expressed, usually shows up when fish is stressed somehow.

Fish are growing fast and coloring up quite nicely. The color enhancing fdbw from Rick is definitely working and the fish are showing nice hues of orange instead of washed out yellow. The spots on the fins I noticed earlier have almost completely cleared up. I am sticking with my routine of 90-100% water changes every evening, but began aging my water during the very cold weather we have been having to alleviate and threat of GBD and will continue to do so from now on. Everything is going great with the grow out so far. I have also completed the stand I am going to use for the 40g Breeder these fish will eventually move into (which will most likely turn into a 65g). Having a great time watching these fish develop. Thanks again Rick!

Discus had a little setback a few weeks ago. Not entirely sure what the cause was, but the fish just didn't want to eat and were acting very lazily. I upped the temperature a few degrees to 88f and that seemed to help a bit. I then noticed the discus flicking and scratching at the sponge filters and air lines. With water quality remaining spot on, a little bit of research came up with flukes as a possible culprit. They were treated to a one week round of Prazipro which seems to have done the trick. All 6 are bright and active and eagerly chasing me across the tank begging for food like the little pigs I was used to. The largest has measured at around 3 3/4 inches with 3 others at around 3 1/2 and the last 2 a little bit smaller as im guessing they are lowest on the pecking order. The smaller of the group are also still a bit undercolored compared to the larger fish. All in all they are doing great, and I am having a blast watching them grow and develop.

Yours look great Matt! That one in the third pic is a real stunner! Good to know that mine are keeping up with the rest of the competition, they could probably use the extra swimming space right about now. Answered your question re: painted sides in my thread if you want to check it out
