June update. The 40g tank they were in sprung a leak in a top corner one morning so to avoid the entire seam from letting go they have been moved back into the 20g temporarily. I am now on the lookout for another tank with a 36x18 footprint if anyone knows of any.

I am also wondering if there is anything I can do to encourage better growth at this age? I have addressed and fixed my oh swing issue that had constantly stressed them out, but lost out on alot of good growth. Any suggestions or tips Rick?

I have an old 36"x18"x15.5" high that you can have for $40 if you want. Not pretty, but it holds water. Please message me for more details if you are interested. For good growth it is mostly just a matter of frequent large water changes, the more the better and feeding them as many small feedings as you can throughout the day (and night if possible). The year I raised a control group I have an auto feeder set up so that they were getting food 24/7.

Been keeping up on regular water changes and multiple feedings. The smaller discus have caught up in size to the largest but still have one which is most likely the bottom of the pecking order that is a bit smaller. Having a blast watching these guys develop!

Not much to report for August. Still growing and enjoying life! Little German ram lost her mate and has now infiltrated the group of discus, she believes she is one of them. Really fun to watch.

That's really funny about the ram joining the discus school. They're looking good. I especially like the biggest one.

    September update.

A few fish have had a small growth spurt in the last month and a half in the new 36" 55g, still not the biggest compared to other contestants but good size. One in particular which has been a bit of shy fish has really put on some size and is making me reconsider my choice for the final entry! It has been so much fun raising these guys and watching them develop. Learned alot along the way, and have much more respect for those that raise large groups of fry to market size.

Good job. That is a nice looking group. It's funny how they all go through growth spurts at different times, makes it challenging to look at a group of young discus and try to guess which one will turn out the best when grown.
