Default7th Annual CAF Discus Grow Out Contest: Moloto

Excited to be a part of the grow out contest for the second year in a row. Have my group of 6 in a 15 gal right now. Sides and back are covered with white shelf liner since I’m too lazy to paint the glass. The heater is set at 86F, and they will be fed exclusively freeze dried blackworms. They’ve only been in the tank for about 2 hours and they’ve already managed to rip through nearly a full cube of blackworms.

Picked up 2 Albino Leopards and 2 Albino Leopard Snakeskins from Rick last week to grow out with the rest of the group. They’ve packed on some size and are starting to show some colour. 5 out of the 6 have some orange spots coming through, with a bit of blue on the fins if the light hits them at the right angle.

Great shape. The one in photo #3 looks especially promising.

March update. Had them stuck in the 15 gal longer than I would have liked. Just moved them to a 40 gal breeder last night. Fairly certain they were stunted a bit, hopefully they can grow out of it eventually.

    April update:

Lost one of the grow out discus a few weeks ago. Stopped eating one day, belly up the next morning. Rather sudden, but the others appear to be fine. Going away for a week so hopefully everything is ok when I get back, have them on a minimal feeding schedule until I get back. Seems like the albinos are growing faster than the regular leopard snakeskins.
