Tahitian Moon Sand is super fine. I would suggest going with the Fluorite Black Sand as an alternate.

JMHO.

Fluorite Black Sand seems like it ll do, is there anything more like that pic davej posted?

and where could i get them?

Yeah, that looks exactly like Fluorite that I got from J&L. Looks like a dark charcoal black gravel. It does buffer water a bit....keeps my water mid 7's for pH.

I have something similar in my tank, but it's seachem onyx. It also slightly buffers the water. Try King Eds.
