Hi guys,

I am very new to betta fish, need some suggestion now.
I have a blue delta male betta in 40 gal breeder community tank. He is making bubble nest in the corner of the tank now.

Question 1
Is this a sign to get a female for him?

Question 2
If I want to breed betta, do I need a breeding tank, or I can simply put the female in the community tank?

Question 3
As for the female, do I need to get the same blue delta, or any type of females will work?

Thank you very much.

If you want to breed bettas, You will want to separate the male to a small (~5 gallon tank with a cover). Condition both male/female separately. Add the female when she is full of eggs and the male has built a large stable bubble nest. The female can be any type of Betta splendens. This is a condensed version too.

Best regards,

Stuart

The best thing to do is Google breeding bettas. The male will eventually kill the female if left together.
