I'm trying to find out if my new anemone I just bought from the LFS is bleached or not? New at all this... IMG_0497.jpg

Hmmm, don't really know what you referring to, I have heard of coral polyps (and I guess it could happen to anemones, but they do move around) getting 'bleached out' by being placed under too strong of a light too quickly, kinda like a sunburn I guess. But if this was the case, the poor guys would be all closed up, maybe dying...

Yes it's bleached quite bad but that doesn't mean certain death. It will most likely move to where it's happy. I've had a few come back. Is it a condy?

Anemones bleach by expelling their Zooxanthellae when under high stress, so a bleached anemone loses their photosynthetic abilities until they can replace the Zooxanthellae. So more manual feedings of the anemone are needed so it doesn't starve.
