Did a little looking around, seems most suggest using sand (good ole cheap playsand) as opposed to smaller gravel. I seen a couple claiming musk turtles might eat the rocks if they are small enough. Maybe a larger size of a similar substrate would be better if your really want to be safe with a rock style substrate. You might email the company and ask them as well.
