can anyone tell me what this fish is? I got him with a tank I bought today, was told it was a Jack Dempsey but obviously it isn't. About 7 inches long and 3-4 inches high.

Yall got it! Mean mean fish but I loved mine. When I moved here a buttikoferi was the first fish I went out and bought.
