Yes, they will grow fine floating. They will fill your tank very quickly. It's great for shrimps and guppys since they babies can hide inside.

There some some snails in my tank but I think most planted tanks have snails unless you only buy plants from Tropica grown in a petri dish. Most plants you buy were grown in ponds and will contain snails. You could always dip the plants in bleach before you put them in your tank if your worried about snails. This is what most aquatic nurseries look like and it would be impossible to have snail free ponds since plants come from all over the world.

You have to wait a bit longer if you can. I sold lots from the top and I noticed the plants underneath were not as thick since the plants were going so dense and was blocking out the light.

Here are a few videos I took of my Anacharis this morning. This plant grows in low light conditions but will pearl and grow light crazy with a simple DIY Co2 setup with about 3watts per gallon.

I just feed my shrimp and guppy and you can see that the shrimp love to hide and pick away on the Anacharis
