There's a few members here that we know each other and have traded/sold to tradebaron before. We were just discussing it yesterday via text and in person and we all noticed this trend. Furthermore when agreed on a price, another member/friend commented that tradebaron wanted to negotiate when it was meet up time. Well, that's not cool....
Yes it is a hobbyist site and if we're selling, probably most of us are doing it to compensate/ reimburse slightly for the newer things we are going to buy. Another reason for selling is because some rare plants or livestock are not readily available at our LFSs. Just think of how cherries and crystal reds came into play here in BC, it basically started with a few members bringing them over from asia. It was rare before, now it's much more widespread. Think of erio plants and buces now, it's rare and among hobbyists, maybe it might become more widespread in the future.
There's also various psychological studies that proves that when someone is buying something, he/she will treasure it much more compared to when it's free.
Having that said, of course different people have different views on value. But as a hobbyist site, keep in mind that we shouldn't be trying to make a profit of other members' good gesture of cheap plants/livestock/equipment.
