I am looking for a top for my 48x24x16" aquarium. One of my cichlids has developed strong splash game, he's been soaking the wall and floors every time food drops.
The tank doesn't have a cross brace*, so I can't use two 24" tops like a 55 long. I'm currently running two canisters and an HoB, so I need clearance. Given that it's a relatively odd size, from my perspective the simplest options are;
a) Glue on cross piece, buy two pre-made 24" tops.
b) Custom glass shop, DIY sliding top similar to this: Sliding Glass Top how-to - The Planted Tank Forum
*c) Since the tank was designed without a crossbrace, can I pull off the black plastic trim for a rimless look? The full dims are 48x24x16". If I can, I may just opt for a single thick piece of glass.
Any suggestions? As always, your advice is appreciated!
