Feed it and turn the light off and leave the room for complete darkness. Don't get too excited watching your fish eat in front of you as they are nocturnal fish. Let them settle down in the new environment as it takes many weeks for them to get use to the tank. This is the common repeated mistakes that most hobbyist do when they have a new nocturnal fish, watching the fish eats. Very bad move.

Thanks for the responses.....a little bit more insight into my tank....I've got 2 Uaru's plus 4 - 2" clown loaches in a 4ft 90G. Everyone eats great...feeding a variety of foods...NLS, bloodworms, dried krill, veggie flakes. King El...I will try your method...bloodworms..then shutting off the lights. Will the eel eventually get used to eating with the lights on?

Once it started eating and get comfortable in the tank and when that happens even with lights on it will eat. You can even train to eat by your hand. Once it gets use to you it will always beg for food.
