My tank ph is super low, 5.5. It always used to be perfect 6.5-7 when I kept fish quite a few years ago, now it is really low. Anyone else in Pitt Meadows that has noticed this? I'm putting bags of crushed coral in to try and help it.
I tested my tap water here at home (Surrey Cloverdale/Clayton) and it is 6.8 or 7.0 can't really tell the difference...so its the same as always. Mineral content still the same (~10ppm)
with a pH of 5.0-5.5 that water is potentially doing corrosion damage to the water distribution system of your area. Either calibrate your pH meter and re-check the water or let your local MLA and Metro Vancouver know so they can get on corrosion control ASAP. Or check yourself with this calculator if you have all the parameters langelier saturation index
The low PH might have been because the municipality was flushing the lines or doing maintenance. Kral is correct, the PH needs to be neutral so it doesn't damage the infrastructure.
