I'm looking to add one freshwater snail to a fluval edge. Are there any snails that won't lay eggs? It's stocked with red cherry shrimp and don't want to clean eggs , thanks!

You can get a solitary nerite snail and you should be fine. They won't lay eggs if left solitary.

Best regards,

You can also mix solitary species of nerites as they won't interbreed.

If you get a female nerite, she will lay (unfertlized) eggs and they're quite difficult to remove. However, to my knowledge there's no way to tell a male from a female.

I'm pretty sure female nerites only lay fertilized eggs, they just don't hatch in fresh water. So in this instance, you would need 2 to lay a fertilized egg.
