have a tank with just about 10 small fish, tetras, rasboras, .. 2 loaches.. had it for years suddenly getting brown algae on glass. only changes are switching from gravel to sand ... I have kept lights low for months.. have driftwood in the tank that has been in there years.. could it be time to replace it?

First post! Welcome to the forum :)

Brown algae is not really algae, but diatoms. Diatoms grow where there is a silicate food source or not enough light. Keeping the lights low could be the cause. I heard Otos will clean it up nicely, or you could just wipe the glass :)
