yesterday my 110g tank started to smell really bad....
so bad in fact i couldn't sit in the same room with it.
i was forced to do a total clean 50% water change and scrub of the fx5.
i all but destroyed the bio in the tank.

that said when i refilled the tank and set the filter up using prime and this new product i found called Microbe-lift/tac(Dry Bacterial cultres).

the tank has suffered no ill affects no mini cycle and is crystal clear.
Oh and of course smell free.

Wow, its always great to hear people with good stories about their tank crashes. I know that Seachem Stabiility has been said to be very effective in dealing with cycling issues but you have to be very diligent with dosage. A lot of people have set tanks up front scratch and added fish immediately using Stability. I haven't tried it myself.

So what caused the crash? Bad water change with too much chlorine? Filter stopped for too long? Just wondering, since I've never experienced something like this. Good that you got things sorted though.
I'm not sure what caused the crash..
all water tested normal right up till the moment i walked in the room and had to walk right back out.
the fish were still there normal selves also.
your guess is as good as mine Gary,
